The Concertina cabinets use the concept of repeated geometric forms to subtly break up the appearance of the typically large, single volume employed in the vast majority of storage furniture.
An intriguing, sculptural appearance for each of the cabinets is achieved through the careful application of angled lines and surfaces to the doors.
Each door pair is composed of a mirrored pair of standing trapezium shapes.
These are repeated along the length of each cabinet in order to create an abstract, rhythmical series of folded surfaces reminiscent of a concertina.
The trapezoidal doors break an unwritten rule, appearing to support the cabinets on their tips but the cabinets are in actual fact supported just above the floor surface on a inset base.
